Fifth graders heard the story “Where Are You From” by Yamile Saied Mendez last week, and then were challenged to create Lego glasses to represent themselves.
Kindergarten and 1st grade read Sky Color by Peter H. Reynolds this week during library time, and then students had a growth mindset sun drawing activity. They did a great job!
Second-grade students had a great field trip to Heap's Farm. Everyone went home with a pumpkin! Thank you to our volunteers who helped on the field trip!

Last night, the Board of Education approved switching SIP days in September due to the LIV Golf tournament at Bolingbrook Country Club. Students will be in school on Monday, September 16, and off school on Friday, September 13. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and excessive heat watch for our area until 8 p.m. Tuesday. District 202 uses the following guidelines on days with extremely hot and or humid weather:
• Recess/PE outdoors if the heat index is 90 degrees or below
• Recess/PE indoors if the heat index is above 95 degrees
The heat index takes into account both air temperature and relative humidity. If the heat index is between 91 degrees and 94 degrees principals can decide if students stay inside or go outdoors.

We are excited about the installation of our new shelving and furniture in our Media Center. Our students will now have the ability to browse for books by genre using our updated book browsers.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all our staff, families, and the PTO for your dedicated fundraising efforts. We are pleased to announce that the concrete slab for our outdoor classroom was poured over the summer!
Our building is looking great with all the updates. Our staff has been busy working on getting the building ready for the new school year. We are excited to welcome our staff, students, and families to the 24-25 School Year.
