D.202 Board of Education names Lincoln AP new ELL director

Lincoln Elementary School Assistant Principal Cindy Castanon will serve next school year as District 202’s district director for the Linguistics and Diversity department.

The Board of Education approved the new assignment at its June 27, 2022 regular meeting. Castanon will replace Michelle O’Shea.

Incoming Superintendent of Schools Dr. Glenn Wood praised both O’Shea and Castanon.

“Under Michelle’s leadership, the Linguistics and Diversity department made significant and important progress in serving our students who need extra help with the English language,” Wood said.

“We are confident, given her background and experience, that Castanon will continue that progress so we can help all our students achieve to their fullest academic and personal potential,” Wood said.

Castanon started her education career in 2009 as an English Language Learner teacher at Eagle Pointe Elementary School. She served five years in that role before becoming a dean at PEHS in 2014 and was named Lincoln’s assistant principal in 2017.

“I look forward to continuing the great work this department has done over the last several years to support each one of our District 202 students,” Castanon said.
